Chain DragGONE Kart Racing Products High Speed Chain Management Systems

About the DragGONE

ChainDragGONE Race Products has been working to minimize chain harmonics and vibration. In 1991 the ability to control chain harmonics was realized with the implementation of an idler wheel and adjustment system. Reducing the slack between the sprockets is important but the solution has not been simple but searching for the solution has become a passion.
Physics explains the principle of a object in motion, for every action there is a reaction and gravity keeps us on the planet!  The chain is the power-motive flexible connection that propels a race kart, mini bike or a very powerful motorcycle forward;  it also moves your dry cleaning on the rails around the store; interacts with the timing sprockets in your automobile's engine and its other uses are so broad it takes books to explain. Because of the chains flexible nature, its ability to stretch when it gets hot, or shrinking when it is cold, are some of the circumstances that must be addressed.  The ChainDragGONE original design was simple and extremely direct because the use of the product primarily addressed the ease of adjustment. After trying many designs to implement different desired affects, many more engineering problems presented themselves. Initially the ChainDragGONE was used on the 2 cycle Yamaha engine with a crank mounted wet clutch on a straight rail sprint kart chassis.
The CD1997 was the first ChainDragGONE manufactured to sell, and there are still racers who race the CD 1997 because of its simplicity and effective design. The DragGONE known as the CD1997 was on the winnig kart at the UAS Nationals in 2009 with Steve Windle at the wheel! You might ask why and how  has the ChainDragGONE changed. It is important to understand what happens to a chain under the extreme loads encountered while racing a go kart. ChainDragGONE products are designed with the environment that the kart operates in and the work the chain is required to do Many racers are aware of the differences in the  219 / 35 chain that are prevalent in karting today. The differences are a result of changes in perspectives: which chain is faster, what chain gives the racer the best selection in sprocket final drive ratios. Much has been said and debated but the end result is the same, if it is hooked to sprockets, it moves something, you choose what works best or is legal in the series that you race in.  In 1999 the ChainDragGONE design was changed to work with single cylinder 4 cycle engine combinations as well as the 2 cycle engines. Jamie Farrell won a record 8 classes at Newton Iowa 2 Cycle Nationals. Success continued with 3 different drivers winning 4 classes at IKF 4 cycle Nationals at the now defunct Nessa Bros. Race Track in Webster City, Iowa. Many racers around the country found victory circle during the the initial years with ChainDragGONE products and the tradition continues to today with the ZQ1 Isolator engine mounts and the legendary ChainDragGONE high speed chain management system.

The Summer Season is under way!

but the rain has not been kind to midwest racing. Matt Hidlebaugh is one of many race directors facing tough decisions about racing in the rain. But ChainDragGONE racers have found tracks to show off their skills. Steve Potochney and Cal Snyder battled to a 1-2 finish in Pennsylvania (check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BD54Mkbm0u8). Nolan and Brody Pope headed south over the 4th and raced well. Brody brought home a MaxDaddy Trophy...cool! Lee Miller also picked up a 1st place trophy at the 1st MASN race. Nick Kyle and Jake Alton continue to make us proud with their racing skills. Chris Buller tried the DragGONE with great success, thanks Chris. Billy Lile drove lights out for a win at Warrensburg, congrats Billy!

Watch for news of the DragGONE coming to Toner's Lake, Blue Earth and Thunderhill the beginning of August. Jake Alton and Hawk Performance Racing will be sponsoring a seminar by Chain DragGONE Race Products on August 8 at the shop, more info to follow.
